Commitment / Other Details
I conduct 1-1 home and group tuition during weekdays up to 9.30pm. I have a flexible schedule. I am able to arrange for additional sessions when nearing examinations.
Rapport Building
I first get to know the expectations that parents have for their children. Afterwards, I get to know my students better and understand their learning styles and personal qualities. I also ask my students to set goals for themselves at different milestones and we create plans on how to achieve them. I work together with both parents and students, sharing with them ways on developing good study habits, a conducive studying environment and ways to encourage their children. I try to make learning fun and engaging during my lessons. With interest, learning becomes enjoyable and second-nature.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I check the Ministry of Education website often to keep myself updated with any changes in the syllabus, the examination paper format and the latest learning methodologies that schools use to increase experiential-learning for students.
As a Good Tutor
Students look up to tutors and trust that we are there to help them the best as we can. As a tutor, I stay committed to helping parents and students achieve their goals. It is important to encourage my students when they are faced with setbacks. This is to build up their self-confidence in their own abilities so that they will continue to do their best that they can. It is important respect students and also listen to the concerns that students may have in their academics and allow for some flexibility from session to session to better suit their needs. It is understandable that students may feel lethargic sometimes. At such times, it is even more important for me to remain positive, calm and energetic. Energy levels can be transferred!
