Tuition/Teaching Experience
My name is Yvonne and I started tutoring last year. I taught a total of two students, Maths and Science at Primary 6 level and also Maths at Secondary 1 level. It has been an extremely fruitful experience especially when hard work was reflected on tutee's grades. I am very fortunate to have 2 diligent students who were willing to invest effort into tuition homework which were strategically tailored to their learning needs. I am very glad to have seen improvements in their results; from a passing grade to B for both Maths and Science for the younger tutee. As for the other, who had a stronger foundation and a faster learning rate, she managed to attain A for Maths. This puts me in a position to assure you that I am well informed of the latest syllabus and teaching technique.

Rapport Building
Apart from tutoring, I have prior experiences with numerous voluntary community projects involving children. I am able to connect well with juniors. As far as attaining good grades is important, establishing a good tutor-tutee is an imperative part of the equation as well. This helps to ensure that students are receptive to my teaching methods. My philosophy in teaching lies in teaching HOW to think and not WHAT to think. I will do my best in cultivating deduction skills and not memory work with my students.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I am well informed with the latest curriculum having graduated from high school not long ago. Also I have undertaken tuition assignments which not only helped me with refreshing my memory with Primary/Secondary level syllabus but also with constructing tuition materials. On top of these, updated syllabus and related changes are always readily available on MOE website.
As a Good Tutor
A good tutor definitely has to be a responsible one. Being responsible encompasses ensuring that tutee has grasp a comprehensive understanding of the subject and ultimately make improvements in his/her final grades. Also, a tutor should constantly keep track of tutee's progress and tailor tuition materials tailored to student's learning needs.

Another basics to be a good tutor is to have patience. This applies to students of all learning pace, not just towards students with slower learning abilities. For students who cannot grasp concepts as fast, tutor has to be patient and, under no circumstance lose her temper. For students who learn faster, it is important to be patient as well because from past experiences they have the tendency to jump into conclusions very quickly. Personally, I would let my student reason it out on their own and slowly correct them along the way.
