I have experience as a student tutor in NTU Math Clinic for weaker students. I have also tutored JC/O level students in Math when I was an undergraduate in NTU.
I am able to start immediately. I am able to commit to tuition assignment till O/A levels exams.
Rapport Building
I build rapport with students by sharing with them my past experience in managing challenging questions regarding mathematics.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I keep myself updated with the curriculum by taking the O/A level exams. I visit SEAB website and understand the syllabus being tested. I also get past exam papers from schools to understand the marking scheme and how questions are being asked.
As a Good Tutor
A good tutor needs to know the strengths and weaknesses of the students they are tutoring especially in topics tested. Tutors need to know how the students learn the subject. A good tutor needs to also find effective means of motivating students if the students are not motivated to master the subject. There is no hard and fast rule on motivation. I believe the best way to motivate students is intrinsic motivation i.e. motivation that comes from within the students. If tutors can spark learning interest in the students on the tutor subject and keep that interest going, learning will be so much more easier, fun, and easier to master.
