I get informations about its evolutions through the students's feelings and relevant paper.
As a Good Tutor
Good tutors need a high ability to adapt themselves regarding the student's needs and the goals the want to achieve. He should be able to answer questions even if they don't concern the exact topic to help the students understand the big picture. Moreover he needs to be available if the student has other questions.
