Commitment / Other Details
I am free throughout December, January and February as I await my A level results. I am flexible in my timing and welcome ad-hoc sessions as well.
Rapport Building
To build a good rapport with students and their parents, I believe that a tutor must be patient and understanding towards the students. Having received private tuition myself, I personally feel that the best tutors are those who are patient with students and are able to accommodate and cater to students' specific needs, as every student has their own preferred learning style. Therefore, as a tutor, I will try to understand my student's learning style and fine-tune my teaching method to suit his/her way of learning.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
As I have just completed my A levels, I am familiar with my content and knowledge. I will make sure that my knowledge is up to date by constantly reading up on the syllabus. I will also visit the bookstore to read up on the latest question type.
As a Good Tutor
I personally feel that to be a good tutor, one must be patient with students. As a student myself, I understand how frustrating it is when we are not able to understand a question and it certainly does not help if the teacher is impatient with his/her student as it will only stress the student further. Therefore, one of the most important qualities that a teacher must possess is patience.
Secondly, a good tutor is one who is understanding and is able to cater to a student's specific learning style. This is because every student has his/her own preferred way of learning, hence enforcing a specific learning style on students is not necessarily helpful.
Lastly, to be a good tutor, one should provide his/her own students with his/her own notes/summary/mind map to help students to understand better.
