Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have been tutoring since my undergraduate days for close to 7 years, teaching mainly primary and secondary school students. I specialise in Mathematics (including E Maths and A Maths), Chemistry, Physics and Principle of Accounts. I teach English and Chinese as well.

I have tutored some fifty over students so far, both on a one-to-one setting and also at tuition centres (since 2011). Many of these primary and secondary school students took my lessons all the way till their PSLE or O Levels. I also tutored three girls all from the same family for the past 5 years as well (and still tutoring the youngest one). One of them had performed well enough to be admitted into accounting in NYP while the other is in Hwa Chong Institution now.

Commitment / Other Details
I am ablt to commit to tuition assignments for as long as the student reaches his or her PSLE / O Levels. Unless the slot has been taken by a student, I will stick to the timing stated by the parents.
Rapport Building
I believe in making the lesson interesting and fun for the student so that he or she will stay more focused and be willing to put in more effort to brush up their knowledge. I also make it a point to talk to parents regularly on the progress being made and which additional actions can be taken to help the students.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I have several friends who are teachers teaching various subjects and I often approach them for the latest news and developments in the syllabus or style of teaching in the schools. I also refer to students themselves to determine the pace at which the curriculum is covered, as some schools teach different chapters at a given time.
As a Good Tutor
I believe that a good tutor should be cognizant of the character of the student and tweak the style of the lesson accordingly. Just as important, a tutor should make an effort to be seen as approachable and friendly so that the student feels at ease raising questions or give his or her opinions (important for tutoring languages). Another important aspect is the tutor's ability to link everyday things with the knowledge the students learn. This will help them when they move on to higher education where critical thinking and application of knowledge will be a key component of learning.
