I have tutored students at Emmanuel College during my sophomore year. The subjects that I tutor were Managerial Accounting and Financial Accounting. In addition, I also have two children of my own whom I have been teaching at home. I teach them English, Math and Mandarin. My son is now 12 years old and has almost all A in his grades and my daughter too. He is Primary 6 and she is primary 3 this year.
Primary level - Chinese English Higher Chinese Mathematics Science
Lower secondary level - Accounting
Commitment / Other Details
I prefer to tutor full-time right now , starting July 1, 2014 towards getting my CPA certification. I live in the central area (near Raffles Place) and would prefer areas near it like Outram Park, Tiong Bahru, Chinatown, Redhill, Tanjong Pagar area.
As I am an early bird, I prefer to teach during the day from 10a.m to 4 p.m.; either 1 hour per sessions or 2 hours per sessions at most. I also prefer one on one session as I think the student would benefit more on one to one sessions. I love to teach Math, English and Mandarin from Primary 1 to Primary 6.
Rapport Building
I think understanding the child that I teach is very important and making teaching fun is also essential to the success and growth of the child academically and personally.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
There are test samples that I use for my children as well as my tutees. I gave them homework to enrich themselves as well as provide online guidance to help them strength their weakness such as Math games, English practice online.
As a Good Tutor
I think it is important to be a coach, playing a supportive role as well as making teaching fun. When the child is able to understand and have fun learning, he or she will naturally do well and enjoy it.
