I have 10 years fulltime teaching experience in EL, GP & TOK in St Andrews JC and River Valley High School. For more than another 10 years, I have been coaching and preparing Thai students for the ASEAN scholarships. I have to date sent more than a 100 students to Victoria School, ACS (I) and Commonwealth Secondary Schools with ASEAN Scholarships.
I am an extremely effective English teacher - I am fully cognizant of all the cognitive skills that students need to demonstrate in order to obtain a distinction in the EL papers. I am also fully cognizant of the kind of cognitive activities that students need to be put through in order for them to internalize and demonstrate those skills required in the papers.
I am about to complete 2 text books for the O level English and the A level GP.

Rapport Building
Teacher must know the subject and the exam requirement extremely well. Teacher must know how to structure the lessons and provide the right exercises. Teacher must belief in helping, not hurting the student. Teaching is not about how teacher feels at the end of lesson, but how students feel at the end of the lesson. Teacher must aspire to win the student's confidence throughout the teaching period. The sooner teacher does this the earlier rapport will develop.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
The teacher must know the curriculum and MOE's changes to curriculum very well. The teacher must understand the broader cognitive goals of the MOE Curriculum. MOE's website is a good place to start and keep abreast of changes. Staying in touch with friends who are still teaching MOE schools in another way. Attempting to write and publish textbooks with reputable publishes like Marshall Cavendish is yet another way to keep abreast.
