I ask the parents about their child (strengths, weaknesses, goals, etc.) and I also talk to the student to find out more about him. With all this information, I can better teach the child.

As a Good Tutor
I'm very patient and thorough, and I pay a lot of attention to detail (I'm very anal). This makes me good at technical subjects because I won't leave anything out and I can explain everything from 1st principles. I believe learning with understanding is the only way to learn, otherwise things are easily forgotten. I'm also practical - since the students have to take exams, I'll also teach them exam techniques. I believe intrinsic motivation is the only real motivation, so I try to get the student to see the value in learning the subjects and to want to do well. I believe that almost every student can be taught how to (at least) pass their maths and science subjects, and I also believe that I know how to teach most students to do so.
