I have experience working as a part-time private tutor previously to teach NA Secondary 2 Mathematics and Geography for around three months during my school holiday. I have strong passion to teach and work with young children, which is why I am currently pursuing a diploma in Child Psychology & Early Education and I am a final year student in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. This course has provided me with the knowledge to learn more about children with special needs. I have completed my 6 months internship and it has exposed me to various responsibilities such as lesson planning and implementation, preparation of lesson materials and setting up classroom environments and most importantly, having clear and effective communication with my colleagues and parents to understand the company's pedagogy.

Rapport Building
In my previous internship company, I have formed a positive working relationship with the children and their parents. It all comes to personal interactions with the child and understanding each child's preference and their personality. With that understanding, I was able to connect the child's experiences in school to the parents and in this way, children's learning are also bridged through effective parent-teacher communication. It is also important to do a follow up consistently with the parents on the child's progress and development in school. In this way, parents would feel that their children are in good hands. I believe that every teacher has their own teaching style. For me, I would prefer to keep it firm yet light-hearted and I would let the parents understand that I do not focus solely on academics, but also on the child's well-being and personal development. I have great emphasis on effective parent-teacher partnership as I believe that parents and teachers need to have great rapport so as to support their children's learning. The way I build rapport with my parents was to always listen out to their queries and concerns and try my best to answer them. I would also upkeep my professionalism while maintaining my smile to the parents, so that the parents will feel comfortable approaching me. For myself, I respect the parent's opinions a lot and take their suggestions into considerations on how to improve, in terms of teaching skills or how to work with the child as every child is different.
