For every students I teach, I ensure that I:
- befriend and build strong rapport with them
- teach ahead of schools, yet put aside sufficient time to brush-up the areas of weaknesses
- incorporate the use of technology such as iPad and smartphones and utilize online resources for students to enhance their own learning
- allow students to engage me 30-min after lessons to consult on any matters outside of what I taught. For eg, help with homework, study tips etc.
For parents with budget constraints, I rented a room a Student Care Centre at Bukit Gombak (3 minutes from MRT station) to teach small-group tuition.
Students who feel forced to study will not be able to learn effectively.
Students need to be engaged and feel comfortable to ask questions and make mistakes.
For students learning had to be personalized. Each of them learn differently and different paces. Each of them have different weakness and strengths. Each of them is unique.
Many factors affect a students' learning. Seldom are students not doing well because they can't. They can.
The above are some of the things I hold on to when helping students learn. I take your children's future really seriously.
