Rapport Building
Being a sportsman, I was given many opportunities to improve my leadership skills. I was appointed the rugby captain of the school team for 4 years. This has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone to realize my true leadership potential. I am also an active member of the National team and was the vice-captain of the Under-18 team in 2014. Rugby, though physically and emotionally demanding, has taught me many important life skills such as leadership, teamwork and commitment. During my National Service, I was also selected to attend Officer Cadet School, allowing me to hone my leadership skills and work with people from various backgrounds. Being in NUS, I will be a contributive figure in rugby, bringing my leadership skills and experience to benefit the team.

Apart from sports, I was also an active volunteer at a special needs school, which allowed me to interact with adults with Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and autism spectrum disorders. I was able to teach them simple skills such as cooking, cleaning as well as help out with behavioral and occupational therapy classes. This experience opened my eyes to a section of society that I knew little about, and I was grateful to be able to help these people and their families. Despite the heavy workload from school and sports, I still make it a point to volunteer actively to improve myself and give back to the community.

I have a proven track record of community service, leadership and sports and I also enjoy interacting with people. I believe that the values and life skills that I picked up through my experiences have prepared me well to face the different challenges in my future.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I keep myself updated with the curriculum by reading online and interacting with my other student tutors. We come together and discuss the different questions to ensure the things we teach are correct. Furthermore, I will look through the entire syllabus before teaching to ensure that I know whats required.
As a Good Tutor
As a good tutor, I think we should have patience, responsibility and commitment. Teaching students of young age requires us to be understanding and to slowly guide them as they might have difficulty grasping certain new concepts. Furthermore, It requires responsibility and commitment as we have to ensure that we are good role models to out tutees.
