Rapport Building
I have a generally good relationship with all my students and their parents, and I believe that communication is key in maintaining this relationship.

I inform parents regarding any significant changes to the tuition, and update them regularly on their child's progress.

I interact mostly with the students regarding schedule changes, and I strongly and repeatedly encourage them to send me work over text/whatsapp/emails, etc, for me to go through. As such, my tutoring extends beyond just the stipulated hours. I also focus on building a strong rapport with the student, which allows them to view me more as a peer rather than a "teacher" figure. Beyond just H2 History, I talk to students about other relevant subjects they are taking (English Literature, for example), and provide advice for university life, etc. This has been highly effective, as the student does not regard the sessions as work but more as a discussion, which significantly improves the overall learning experience.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I specialise in H2 History, and I am very familiar with the current syllabus.

I have a rather comprehensive collection of H2 History notes from my own JC days and tutoring experience. I update my notes regularly with any new inputs I discover, and I provide relevant materials to every student I tutor.

As my previous batch of students just completed the 2018 A-levels, I have the most updated content on hand.
As a Good Tutor
Currently a Year 3 undergraduate at NUS FASS. Double major in History and English Literature, consistent good grades in both subjects (assignments range from B+ to A+)

Firsthand experience with overcoming lack of motivation/poor grades (got into a neighbourhood JC but managed to get into NUS), so I understand students who are unmotivated

I had 1 student with dyslexia: I relied more on verbal communication, and prepared materials that were easier to teach and absorb within short periods of time.

Selected for the History Scholars' Program in my JC, which was dependent on consistent grades. The program involved analysing and deconstructing more complicated A-Level questions, which I now incorporate to my teaching.

My teaching style varies for each individual student, I adapt to their needs and check in on their progress frequently to ensure that my methods stay relevant.

I focus more on skills over content, i.e, I teach students how to study, rather than regurgitate what has been taught in schools. I emphasise heavily on efficiency over rote learning, and find that having a manageable workload with the right methods can maximise results more than investing hours repeating the same content.
