Commitment / Other Details
I am committed to help your kids to not just excel academically, but also to provide him mentorship and guidance in terms of school life etc...
Rapport Building
In school, I was able to communicate well with all of my peers and had a healthy relationship with most of them. As an Officer and an Instructor of the Singapore Armed Forces, I went through coaching and facilitation course to hone my coaching skills. As an instructor, I taught many types of trainees including NS Men which further enriched my teaching and communication skills. In addition, I have a younger brother in secondary school and i do teach him as well. I believe I am more than able to build rapport with my students as well as their parents. Normally, I would build rapport by understanding some of his hobbies, try to relate to the person and share personal stories. The most important thing about building rapport is to listen.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I can read, try and understand exercise books such as Ten year series and their textbooks.
As a Good Tutor
I believe as a good tutor, he/she has to be relatively good at the relevant subject that he/she is teaching. As a result of my academic performance, I was awarded the 'Jacob Ballas Scholars Award by SAJC and Edusave Certificate of Academic Achievement Award. I am also currently under NTU's CN Yang Scholar Programme for my undergraduate study that will begin from 2018 onwards. Furthermore, a good tutor has to be patient and able to adapt to different types of students. Back in school, I've taught many of my peers using different types of explanation that suit them best. Even as an instructor in Army, I was able to cater to different cadets ranging from people younger than me to people that are 40 years old that are back on reservist.
