Rapport Building
On meeting the tutee the first time, I will pass a letter to him/her for the parents. The letter is meant for the student as well.

The letter details the expectations I have of the tutees during lesson and the request for the parents to play their part in the overall development of the tutee. On top of helping the tutee excel academically, I request the parents to work with me on the students' physical and emotional well being.

I maintain a two way conversation with the parents on the well being of the tutee. This includes sharing what we observe of the tutee in terms of their emotional and mental health. In other words, I would work with the parents on helping the student and in doing so, keep them in the loop of things.

I share my personal experiences sitting for exams with the tutee. I will also share exam skills and tips to help tutees relate. I will also share what past graduating students go through and have done or not done, so that my tutee can learn from them.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I left the service as a full time MOE teacher in 2018 June. My content mastery is still strong and am familiar with the syllabus. I will constantly refer to the latest ten years series to study the trend in the how questions are asked. I do check SEAB for the latest syllabus and the learning objectives.
As a Good Tutor
Besides helping students understand topics as what most tutors or teachers would do, I equipped students with skills and strategies to excel in their graduating chemistry exams

My strengths are the ability to turn complex topics into manageable concepts, impart skills in analysing O and NA level questions and structuring answers to the questions accordingly.

In the class, students would learn to
1. understand complex topics in simpler smaller sub-topics and apply the concepts on practice questions
2. break down O and NA level questions into manageable parts
3. structure answers with the right concepts that answers each of the parts from analysing the question.
