Tuition/Teaching Experience
Before enlisting into the army, I have taught many students by volunteering myself as a student tutor. I have 2 years of experience tutoring and many years more, in terms of handling students.

Given my CCA in my polytechnic, I have many different opportunities to work with many youths and students. Grades are indeed a good indicator of how well your child is performing, however, being a student myself, I know that a lot of schools don't focus on the underlying reasons why your child may be underperforming.

Having been there myself and personal interactions with many students, I realised that the correct attitude and interest needs to be there first. As a tutor, I will inspire my students to have a goal/dream in mind, and I will help them to take steps to accomplish their goals.

Commitment / Other Details
As I am disrupting my National Service for Medicine studies at NUS, I will most likely be available on evenings/nights of weekdays and full day on weekends.

I may consider organising a group tuition, as I find that it is the best way to share resources among the students, as well as, the element of friendly competition between the students may help them to make the lessons more interesting.

Not only that, it will be much less boring to your child and he will be able to focus better if he/she has peers that are learning the same subject as him due to the interactions possible.
Rapport Building
Rapport with the students is always a tough one, because every individual child is different. Being their tutor, means that I need to adapt to them and not the other way around. Therefore, based on every individual, I will take time to assess their personalities and character, and from there, I will come up with a way that communicates with them best.

Not only that, I would also try to find out their motivating factors. School shouldn't be a place, they go, because it is mandatory. During my lessons, I hope to allow them to find the reason why they need to do the subjects they are doing, and why school is important for their goals.

Inspiring them to dream is my goal, as I believe it pushes them to be better and it gives them something to work towards to.

As a tutor, rapport with the parents is also one of my greatest concern. I would always ensure that there is proper communication with the parents, constantly providing feedback about their child to them. I believe a strong relationship between parents and tutors, can push the child to further success.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
As a current student, many information about the school curriculum can be found online. I will conduct in depth research about new curriculum. Not only that, my research will be supplemented by actual advice from current teachers, who are my ex-teachers.

I have forged strong relationships with many of them, and they will be pleased to help me out as they believe that I will become an outstanding tutor and teacher as well.
As a Good Tutor
I think as a good tutor, being empathetic is very important just like a doctor. There are times where your child will feel tired, demoralised, unhappy, maybe sometimes even temperamental . I hope to be able to be a listening ear to your child, to listen, and understand.

I hope to be able to be a good role model for your child to follow in future as well.
