Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have about 2 years of teaching experience and have taught mostly PSLE students. During the sessions I aim to identify the student's learning style to better understand the child's needs. I teach Science and English for the PSLE students and have had students jump 2 grades higher and improve their writing skills. I adapt my teaching style based on the needs of the student and also had taught a dyslexic child before.

Rapport Building
I usually chat with the parents and the students of their expectations for the child. The current grades and performance level along with the feedback received from the school. If the child's expectations and confidence level is different to that of the parents I make it a point to explain to them so that the results that come after are along the lines of our discussions. I also hold regular feedback sessions with the parents to help them to understand how their child is doing.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I have a large network of full time tutors and current teachers who I am able to get assessments from. We also stay in touch to keep each other updated of the curriculum and the important topics by MOE.
As a Good Tutor
A good tutor is always facilitating the child to appreciate the topics. Since tuition sessions are short, they need to focus on the problem areas for the child and expand on their strengths. The child needs to be able to understand the topics and the tutor needs to present it from different angles to aid the child. Patience to explain concepts that are difficult for the student is important. In my opinion the student should not be afraid of the tutor as this prevents the student from asking questions. However, when it comes to doing work the tutor should be strict and focused.
