Tuition/Teaching Experience
I taught at the University Level as a Teaching Assistant for 2 years for Introduction to Micro and Macro Economics classes. I have also tutored relatives on an ad hoc basis in Singapore. They usually find that my real life experiences help to make concepts come alive for them.

Additionally, I also represented Indiana University in the Nation wide central banking case competition and was ranked 2nd overall in Indiana and Michigan in 2005.

Previously, I worked as an Investment Banker in Beijing for 3 years, worked one of the International credit rating agencies for 1 year and as a proprietary trader for 3 years. I believe that I can bring many unique case studies to the classroom and help the student understand the subject I love.

Commitment / Other Details
I am flexible with my evenings and late afternoons and am able to commit to an assignment if we both feel that I am able to help the student.

I typically do not charge for the first session because I believe it is necessary for both the tutor and student to feel comfortable about the assignment before a commitment is made.
Rapport Building
I like to start by asking the student what concepts they are most interested in. If the student is weak, I would suggest the student focus on concepts that are easier to understand and leave the more tricky and contentious areas for later.

This I believe is a good approach for weaker students because even though I had always been a strong Economics student, there are topics that I did not fully understand until recently, so I would not expect every 18 year old student to be able to understand the entire syllabus.

For students who have a genuine interest in the subject, I would be able to provide them with the current articles of interest from the various Investment Banks to help them prepare for their essays and case studies.

I find that case studies on current affairs tend to be a little more interesting than examples that happened 10 years ago because the student can then track their ideas and hypothesis to see if they match what happens next.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I have tutored some of my relatives in the past few years and have a reasonable understanding on the requirements of the current curriculum.
As a Good Tutor
I believe a good tutor needs to genuinely like the subject he is teaching. The interest and passion shown during the explanation will be obvious and help the student become interested in the material.
