Rapport Building
Love improving conversational skills in children, they're so open and full of interesting ideas about how they see the world from their own eyes. I generally, befriend my students but at the same time I do set my expectations from the beginning. Once we have an agreement of what I expect from them, it is pretty easy going from there unless the agreement is broken (e.g. not focusing in class, not practicing, not putting in effort, etc.) only then will I be stricter and inform the parents.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I have access to current exam papers and I usually do take a look at all the questions and do that in my head / in my free time before I hand it over to my students as an assignment.
As a Good Tutor
One should be able to stand in the shoes of the student and understand their struggles i.e. perhaps having to learn a topic they don't like, or think that they're not good enough. We should always constantly encourage our students to do better and break out of the mindset that they're not good enough.
