Keeping Up with Curriculum
Mr. Alastair Tan reads widely to keep abreast of current economic issues and this enables him to teach students application skills (that most struggle with!) using real-world examples to help students understand the world around them and case studies better. He also has connections with teachers from various top Junior Colleges that provides updates with curriculum and various good resources that can be used for practice.
As a Good Tutor
Mr. Alastair Tan believes in helping students to understand that Economics is a study that aims to comprehend the complex world by first, simplifying it. Engaging them by building blocks of understanding to make sense of what is going on around them. Not only is he passionate in the mastery of the subject, he places great importance on fundamental academic and application skills by providing structure and scaffolding necessary for students to excel in tertiary education.
He hopes that his students will come to learn that Economics does not value only efficiency but as Dani Rodrik explains, provides: a "richer paradigm of human behaviour" and in so doing excel in whatever they do.
