Commitment / Other Details
I'm able to start ASAP. Commitment would be as long as the tutee deems necessary.
Rapport Building
I feel that communication is key to building a relationship with the student and the parent. For the latter, I believe that providing constant updates would allow the parent to have a sense of how well his or her child is doing. In this way, any concerns that parent may have can also be highlighted to the tutor which can be rectified with the student quickly. As for the student-tutor relationship, I believe that there should not be a "barrier" between them. The student should be able to freely talk to the tutor and clarify any doubts that he/she may have without any fear of being scolded.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I constantly refer to the MOE website and school syllabus to ensure I stay up to date with the curriculum. If there are changes, I would adjust accordingly and change my teaching methods if necessary.
As a Good Tutor
A good tutor should be patient, understanding, dedicated and enjoy doing his or her job. If one has the passion for teaching and a sense of wanting to help students in need, the tuition session will be much more enjoyable to both the tutor and the student. Building rapport and friendship with the student would also remove any "barrier" between both parties.
