Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have been teaching English Language and Geography in a secondary school for the past 6 to 7 years. I was the teacher in charge of the English Department's Talent Development Programme. I was also in charge of the English Drama Club in the school. Additionally, I've been given the opportunity to train student emcees and student leaders (weekly speech presentation) for the last 3 years as well. Students enjoyed my lessons as they were fun yet detailed and informative. Students enjoy working closely with me because I am able to give good precise feedback that helps them understand their gap and hence work towards bridging that gap. I am also very encouraging and motivational as I truly believe that ALL students want to learn and ALL students want to give their best in what they do.

Commitment / Other Details
I am able to start immediately. When I take on an assignment, I would like to be able to see the student through to the end of that phase at least. In other words, to see a student through from sec 1/2/3 to 4, or p1/2/3 etc to p6.
Rapport Building
I build rapport with my students by going down to their level and letting them understand that I'm on their side. I'll create the buy-in by understanding where they are at with the subject and their current attitude towards the subject. I will then encourage my students to look ahead and set some targets for us to work towards. Over time, we will review the targets and see how far we have progressed.

In building rapport with their parents, I will set up a strong partnership with them to work towards a common goal for their child. I will also communicate the targets that their child and I have set to work towards. Additionally, to keep them updated, I will provide timely feedback (positive and constructive ones) as well as suggestions for them to be involved in their child's academic development.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
As an ex-MOE educator, I am very familiar with the resources that are available from the ministry. I am also very familiar with how to unpack the curriculum syllabus as well as the exam syllabus. Hence, I will constantly be referring to the materials provided by the Ministry of Education to ensure alignment and relevancy.
As a Good Tutor
I believe that a good tutor must: -
1) believe in the academic potential of every child
2) believe that EVERY child wants to learn
3) believe that EVERY child wants to excel
4) be patient, encouraging and motivating
5) analyse the learning gaps of the child
6) bridge the learning gaps of the child
7) not just teach but mentor and coach
