Group tuition is on weekends only.
Rapport Building
When I start, I usually go through the student's work and do some basic exercises to determine the level of competency. I then customize the content to cater to the individual's unique needs. I build rapport with parents by communicating the student's strengths and weaknesses to the parents on a regular basis - through casual chats mostly.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I keep myself updated with the curriculum by browsing materials from the MOE website. Exposure to student teaching materials will also keep me updated.
As a Good Tutor
A good tutor should be able to identify the problem areas. Every student has his or her own unique strengths and weaknesses. Good tutors should, through interaction with the student, be able to pinpoint where the problem lies. Good tutors should also be competent in delivering content. Being competent means that the tutor should be also to articulate content clearly to students. Scoring As and teaching others to score As are two totally different things. Good tutors should be able to provide smart and reliable study tips for the students so that they can produce good results.
