Commitment / Other Details
I am able to start whenever you need me to. I can commit fully. I am still studying and have other commitments as well.
Rapport Building
For students, I would get to know them as a person. This allows me to understand them as people. I would also be patient and let them trust me fully. I would also encourage them when things are tough. I will also be there as a support system, for them to come to me if they were to have any doubts or worries. I will be respectful of their other commitments and allow them grace periods. I will also alter my teaching methods to the student. This allows them to be comfortable with my teaching.
For parents, I would give them regular updates as to how their child is doing. This would allow them to keep up with what is covered and whether their child is progressing. I am also understanding and if they have anything they want me to do, I would willingly comply, as long as it is in my power to do so.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I will look through assessment books and see the questions posted on various platforms. I would also look at the past year papers to see how the curriculum has changed.
As a Good Tutor
I think a good tutor should be patient. They have to understand the student and know what are their abilities and capabilities and their study styles. They have to accept that not every student is the same and adapt accordingly. They cannot give up if a student is unable to understand something. They have to keep trying until the student understands it.
A good tutor should also be considerate. As parents might have wants and goals for their children and they know what is best for them, a tutor should accept these and comply with their rules. A tutor should also be considerate to their student and not push them too hard if they were to have difficulties.
A tutor should have a balance of being strict and being friendly. This would help build rapport with the tutor and the student. Being strict allows the tutor to teach efficiently while being friendly allows the student to like the tutor and be comfortable with her.
