      If I am having a face to face tuition and the parents is there at home after my tutoring session, I might take some time to talk to their parents and let them know about their children's progress, whether they are coping well in their studies, what they are weak in and my suggested approach for them to improve upon these weaknesses. I will also make sure to highlight any red flags out to the parents like if the child has problems focusing, display a poor attitude and not revising for lessons taught etc. I might also call the parents to update about their child's status if I am rushing to another tuition venue after his/her lesson. Most of the time, I will take it my personal responsibility to help the students out in all ways I can unless I feel that the parent's interception will be helpful.

        I try my best to keep up with the students and learn more about their interests and learning styles so as to tailor my lessons for the students. I make sure to sustain engagement by using different mediums in learning so that lessons can remain interesting for students. I think a very important part of learning is knowing what you want to do and striving towards it. Therefore, for all my students, I make sure that before we start lessons, I learn about their goals and aspirations so that both of us can take active steps to strive towards achieving their hopes and hopefully enable them to pursue what they are truly passionate in.

        Since I have been tutoring for the past 6 years and across all levels, I have a pretty good grasp on the syllabus requirements and learning objectives laid out by MOE. Moreover, as a student myself, going through the process not too long ago, tips and tricks that I have acquired and learned are still fresh in my memory and I am more than happy to pass on learning methods I have developed over these years.
        As a Good Tutor
        I think being a good tutor is to be very aware of the students responses and their attitudes towards the subject. Most of the times, students have a tendency to just agree with whatever the tutor says to avoid being embarrassed or to avoid seeming ignorant. Good tutors need to be able to observe these traits and bring across to the student that it is never wrong to say 'I don't know' or to ask for more help. Encouragement and patience is always the way to go!
