Tuition/Teaching Experience: I have been tutoring primary level students for 2 years, and have volunteered as a tutor even before that. Results-wise, I have seen a minimal of 1-2 band jumps through the course of my tuition. One failing student had passed her SA1 within 2 months of my help. I'm confident and comfortable with my students, and I stand out from other tutors as I make concepts more understandable by linking them to objects that students identify with. I also impart exam skills such as time management to my students. My students, who used to be afraid of certain subjects in the past, would no longer be afraid and even like the subject. Ultimately, I aim to have my students be confident in their subjects and excel in their understanding of concepts.

Tutoring Subjects

Commitment / Other Details: I am looking for a long-term assignment. I will commit for a minimum of 1 year or longer, depending on interest of both parties. I am able to start immediately.

Rapport Building: Making friends with the students by being someone who comes across as approachable is important. Communication and building trust with the student is also important, as tuition is mainly understanding the student's needs and working towards it. Hence, maintaining an open channel of communication with the student is important. Depending on the parents' requests, regular updates to the parents would also be given on the student's progress. I am accountable to my work and should be able to answer parents' queries.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: Reading the SEAB syllabuses are important as they serve as checklists for examinations. I would look through the student's textbook and subject materials, and also go through assessment books, or any other practice materials if required.

As a Good Tutor: Patient, clear, approachable (to the student), clear understanding of the student, responsible. Being able to adjust the pace of the lesson to the student's learning speed is also important.
