Tuition/Teaching Experience
I began tutoring after completing my 'A'level education and my first tutoring opportunity was offered by a mathematics teacher from my Alma mater- Meridian Junior College. I am thankful that she decided to recommend me knowing that have plans of becoming a mathematics teacher in the future. It was a pleasure teaching this secondary 5 boy. We started with revising basic concepts and when it was closer to the examinations we went through past year papers and from my experience i tried to give tips on how to tackle certain questions especially those that are challenging. I went on to take up two other students, secondary 2 and 4. To enrich my teaching experience, i went on to take up the role as a teacher assistant in Kumon and teaching Special Remdial programme in MJC.

Commitment / Other Details
I am currently a student in NUS, Faculty of science. So i will only be able to tutor on weekends and after school hours.
Rapport Building
I build rapport with students and parents simply with sincerity and sympathy. We will have a common goal in mind and that is the purpose of being a tutor; to help the student understand and perform better for a subject. I will be very observant of a student's areas of weakness and understand the difficulty they face so that I can help them to work on those areas. Hoping that by clearing up their doubts and misconceptions it will boost their confidence for these subjects. Furthermore, I will always keep in mind that everyone has weakness and my forte may not be so for the others. With that mindset i will be more patient when i have to spend more time and many different approach to explain a concept. Students would also then find it easier to approach me for help. When parents approach me for feedback or anything they can do to further assist their children in learning I will also try to involve them.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I have a brother in Secondary 4 and he would often consult me on his school work so I am kept up-to-date with the latest curriculum. Furthermore, i will often check with my tutees and read through their textbook to check for any changes.
As a Good Tutor
Enthusiasm. With enthusiasm, a tutor can spread this positive vibe to their students so that there is more motivation to learn.

Committed. It is of utmost importance for tutors to help their students when they need the help because most of the time students have tuition because they are weak in the subjects.

Sympathy. Which I have explained previously, to build greater rapport.
