Elementary Tutoring
Fun And Effective Ways Towards Elementary Tutoring
Elementary students are fun to be with and to teach. This is one way a tutor is able to get in touch with the child in him and have the opportunity to nurture budding learners. Elementary tutoring can also be fun! While they have longer attention span compared to preschool students, elementary students can still use some play to engage themselves into learning concepts.
The first thing to do to make elementary tutoring fun and effective is to become a friend to your tutee. Once your student already feels comfortable towards you, then he knows you are someone he can count on when Maths, English, Reading and other subjects do not make sense. As you come to know your student better, you are also able to apply personalised approach towards learning, which makes it more effective depending on the student’s learning style.
When you already have established a team spirit, go about with your study. Most elementary tutoring is needed for students who are slow or unable to read, comprehend, and speak in the English language, this being the primary language used in schools. Read out loud with your student; choose fun fiction stories, and riddles. While repetition was key to learning among preschool students, elementary students tend to enjoy new things learnt. Give them something new, something that will make them feel smart and cool. Give them opportunities to express themselves and impress you in the process.
If your student is encountering problem with Maths, then play games that have to do with numbers! Strategy games not only sharpen their wits but also make addition, subtraction, multiplication and division not only abstract concepts but mathematical operations with real-life and fun applications.
Most elementary tutoring is also needed when preparing for periodic or end of year assessment tests. Prepare your student well for these tests by accomplishing work sheets. Always outperform your old score. Repeated exercises help the elementary student achieve mastery over a subject matter, which he needs to prepare for the bigger school.
Have fun!
