Commitment / Other Details
I will be able to commit to a tuition assignment for at least 6 months to a year. Currently I am still an Undergraduate student so I will only be able to have lessons during the weekends.
Rapport Building
Usually I will start the lesson by asking students how their day at school is, and understand the problems they are facing in school. I will also look at their past tests and exams to pin-point topics and concepts which students are weak with, and work on them during subsequent lessons. I will also source for useful assessment books or write my own notes for students who need extra academic materials. When I am able to make students understand the toughest concepts of the subject, they will eventually develop an interest in the toughest subjects and grow to enjoy the subject. This interest will usually help them to ace the subject during exams. Students can also ask me regarding their future plans, such as further education plans, so that they will be able to plan out what their exam goals are and have a sense of direction as they are revising for the exams.

I build rapport with students' parents mainly through discussing about my lesson plans so they understand how my lessons will be able to help their children. They can also provide feedback to me regarding my teaching style or lesson plans because they know their children best so they can help me to better help to their children. I will usually update parents about their children's progress during lesson and I am open to parents' concerns about their children's education, such as giving their children more/less homework etc. I believe rapport will be built through open and transparent communication.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I often refer to the curriculum provided by Singapore Examination and Assessment Board (SEAB) for major exams such as N'levels and O'levels.

I also refer to and follow assessment books or teaching guides which are updated with the curriculum.
As a Good Tutor
I think a good tutor is one who is able to make students comfortable during lessons so the student can enjoy the learning process and will not be afraid to make mistakes during lessons. They will not be afraid to ask questions - a good tutor will encourage students to ask questions, no matter how irrelevant or minor the questions may be. A good tutor will also be able to help the students understand toughest concepts in the simplest ways, and provide questions/assessment/assignments to reinforce the concepts so that students learn and remember the concepts taught. They will also be able to be flexible and apply the concepts in various contexts because they understand the core or the essence of the concepts. A good tutor will build a student's confidence in the subject, and help them to develop an interest in the subject they hate the most.
