Commitment / Other Details
I am able to start as soon as possible. My schedule is flexible and I foresee myself commiting to an assignment for at least the next two years.
Rapport Building
Good rapport involves the ability to communicate as well as gaining trust. Having a warm and friendly disposition will help students and their parents feel more comfortable towards me. This alone however, is not sufficient. Students and parents will have more trust and confidence with a tutor who is knowledgeable in the particular subject and is able to transfer this knowledge with relative ease. This can only be shown over time as lessons progress. Another way that I build rapport is to show my sincerity and dedication. These include being particular over the slightest of things, such as always showing up for a lesson early, checking in on the student from time to time even outside of the tuition time slot.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
This is mainly done with individual research. Curriculum can be found on MOE websites and from there, I will usually find recommendations for lesson material from more experienced peers who have tutored longer than me. I will update myself on the curriculum every year and plan a monthly schedule for self revision to ensure that I am always fully prepared for a lesson
As a Good Tutor
A good tutor should firstly be patient. It is critical for any tutor to understand that different students learn at different paces as well as in different forms. A good tutor must be able to identify a student's learning strengths and leverage on them. Doing so will prove to be a more effective way for a student to learn.
Secondly, a good tutor must be dedicated. This means going the extra mile for each and every student to ensure that they have maximised their learning to the best possible extent.
