I have taught home tuition for Maths(P1-P6) and English(P1-P4) for more than 10 years. My children who were taught by myself are currently in RJC and NUS and their PSLE agg were 265(2007) and 269(2009), 4 A*. Usually, I will focus on the pupil's weak area/important topic and let the pupil learn with understanding through practices. After the child has gained confidence, I will help the pupil develop further by doing creative problem-solving questions using the right technique(Model method, Working backwards, Guess & check method, etc). In recent years, Creative Mathematics questions appeared in the Singapore PSLE Examinations, therefore it is necessary for pupils to be trained and exposed to creative maths to sit for their exams confidently.
