In the first lesson, I often try to get to know the students in terms of their strengths and weaknesses. If there are any prevailing problems, I will communicate clearly with the parents. I will also update parents on their child's progress (based on periodical testing). I like to think that I am perpetually young at heart, so that I may be able to stay connected to the students based on common interests in current affairs.

I usually try to find out more about the student, their attitudes and preferred learning styles, so that I am able to cater my lessons towards them. Also, I do try to get to know the student as a person (their hobbies, their school life, etc) and do try to offer advice about school and life, having gone through what they are going through now.

                I would ask for occasional feedback from parents and especially students on my teaching methods after every lesson to ensure that my methods suit the student. If parents or students have any specific requests such as focusing on a certain topic, I would definitely take note and incorporate it into my lessons.
                Keeping Up with Curriculum
                Having taken O levels in 2015 and A levels in 2017, as a student I am extremely acquainted with the MOE syllabus and the specific examination requirements. I can update myself of any changes in the syllabus in various subjects through my juniors which are studying for the examinations. However, as I was part of the batches that experienced major syllabus and paper format changes in both O and A levels, I am very familiar with the new syllabus and their requirements.
                As a Good Tutor
                I feel I am able to empathise and understand my students needs and struggles well, as I have had similar experiences as a fellow student. I am also patient and can explain concepts and questions well as I regularly help my friends with school work.
                I believe I have a strong grasp of the concepts and examination answering techniques as I have excelled academically, especially for the maths and sciences.
                While studying for As and Os, I have come up with an effective studying method and make detailed, concise study notes for each subject which I am willing to share with my students as I feel they would be help them as much as it has helped me during my course of education.
                I am also willing to answer short questions out of tuition hours over whatsapp as I understand that some school assignments are urgent and need quick answers.
