        Able to understand students on a friendly level rather than as a strict teacher. Yet, able to establish some sort of mutual respect as well. Generally quite friendly and easy-going, although takes time to warm up to people. Good listener and hence, can provide students with a listening ear if need, or give some sort of advice or encouragement if needed.
        Keeping Up with Curriculum
        Look through some assessment books, search for papers and syllabus online, get help from friend who's currently teaching tuition and is in touch with the syllabus.
        As a Good Tutor
        Patience is key. Establishing mutual respect is also important to be able to do the job well. Organised, systematic, able to communicate ideas effectively to students. Able to understand students and their needs. Able to explain basic concepts to students in a simplified manner to make it easier for them to understand.

                  I will be in university from 2018 onwards but for subjects that I am passionate in such as Chinese, English and Science, I am able to make time. I am someone who finds joy in educating others.

                  Whenever I can, I will try to get to know more about the student personally. This not only helps me in understanding their temperaments and how they tend to behave, it also helps in my lesson planning for them. I like to speak to the parents to keep them informed about their child as necessary and also have regular feedback on how they can help their child better. This also helps me understand the students better and also to think of ways to approach and motivate them better.
                  Keeping Up with Curriculum
                  I draw from as many sources as I can, be it my friends' siblings, my parents' social circle, or the internet. I also visit popular bookstore regularly to see the syllabus and specific topics to focus on. Another important source for me is the students themselves. I will ask about how their teachers teach every now and then as well as the kinds of assessments they have to go through.
                  As a Good Tutor
                  I think that a good tutor must have both hard and soft skills. Beyond having the knowledge, the tutor must know how to present the information so that students will have an easier time learning. They should know how to empathise with their students since it is ultimately about the education and welfare of the student. Thus, a holistic way of managing students I think will make one an effective tutor.
