Commitment / Other Details
I am currently able to commit once to twice a week. I will be able to travel to your house to teach there, or meet outside elsewhere for lesson if that is preferred.
Rapport Building
I build rapport on the basis of trust: I hope that the parents and my students trust me to do the best that I can to teach the students. In turn, I will trust that the students will do their best to learn. Furthermore, I believe in teaching in an engaging and interactive manner instead of rote learning. I also strongly believe that learning is not a one-way process: as I teach the students, I myself am constantly learning more about myself and how I can improve.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I am a Life Sciences major in the National University of Singapore and receive wide exposure to biology modules and at times chemistry modules. As I have many juniors still in JC and secondary school, I stay interested in their curriculum to see how it has changed, and if they need my help.
As a Good Tutor
I think a good tutor is adaptable to the needs of their students, instead of expecting the student to adapt to their teaching style. Furthermore, I believe that a tutor must be passionate about what they are teaching, as this passion will reflect in their lessons and subsequently affect the the enthusiasm of their students to learn. A good tutor must also be committed and understand the need to increase lessons, for instance, near exam periods, or answer questions via text or phone call outside of tuition time.
