Rapport Building
During the first few lessons I will always spend time getting to know both students and parents, especially the student's struggles with the subject, and also their school life and personal interests.
If needed I will also discuss with parents about how their child is doing. For example, I once had a student with stress issues, which I advised the parents to help the student with. Parents are also free to let me know if they have any concerns, so we can discuss what is best for the student.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I look up the latest published syllabus if necessary and always use the latest available practice books.
I am also currently tutoring actively so I also get students' feedback about what they are learning in school and what their teachers are covering with them.
As a Good Tutor
Besides good knowledge about the subject, patience and an understanding that every student's needs and learning styles are different.
