Tuition/Teaching Experience
i Started tutoring at age 17, when my first student was primary 6. Im still currently teaching him till he graduates from secondary school.
Teaching has always been something i enjoyed and i am glad that i was given this opportunity to helps students to clarify doubts on what they have learnt in during school hours.
i will be graduating from Nanyang Poly next year in February, however i will be continuing my degree in august (an estimated date).
The only commitment for next year will be my current student who will be secondary 3 next year, therefore i believe it would manageable for me if i were t have another student.
Rapport Building
Usually i would encourage my student to be ahead of their teacher this is to ensure that when the teacher touches on the topic they would already grasp the concept which makes learning slightly easier for them. besides that, i do have revision once awhile to reminds student that they have to re-visit the old topics as they are equivalently important for their learning especially when it comes to mid-years of end of year exams.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
i would use the student textbook to make reference the look back to my old books if there are some topics which are similar. Topics that are new, i would go to popular to look through and i make it a point to understand the topic before teaching it to my student.
As a Good Tutor
as a tutor, its important that we have sufficient knowledge to help students and also the patience to teach. Different students have different learning pace, therefore it is critical to personalized learning according to their most efficient way of learning and also the learning pace.
