Best Tutors

Dear parents and tutors,

Introducing our new section, Best Tutors, where we collate the positive comments on our tutors. These words of encouragement are provided directly from parents and students who are clients of Ace Tutors. We hope to spur our tutors to do their best in their teaching, and reappear on the top of the list really often!

Best Tutors

Parents may find it easier to browse our database for tutors who have received commendation before. At the Best Tutors page, the tutors’ teaching locations are listed, along with the recent tuition assignments that they have taken e.g. S4 biology tuition will mean a Secondary 4 Biology tuition assignment that was taken from Ace Tutors not long ago.

As we usually tell our parent-clients, your feedback about the performance of our tutors are really important in terms of helping other parents identify the right tutors. It also contributes towards rewarding the deserving tutors for their dedication. Congratulations to the 36 tutors on the list!

Our Best Tutors – Prelaunch #1

Ace Tutors will be launching a new section to celebrate and promote the commendation of our tutors. After 1 month of lessons or so, we will ask our clients for feedback on the performance of our tutors. These comments used to be posted on the profile of our tutors, but we do not feel that this is enough. After all, positive commendation from clients are hard to come by, therefore when they do come along, our tutors ought to be rewarded by having their profiles promoted more prominently.

For now, we are afraid that tutors who received commendation slightly earlier may be buried down lower in our list of commended tutors. In order to make it fair for this group of tutors, we’re throwing a prelaunch party for them here.

Parents: Please go ahead and check these tutors’ profile out. You may shortlist them for your private tuition (by clicking on their profile)

Tutors’ Feedback – Nov11

Dear tutors,

We appreciate your honest feedback regarding our service rendered to you in the month of November. There was an improvement in scores compared to last month, for which we are heartened to see. I’m guessing that the increased ease of tuition assignments application may be due to the customised assignment emails?

Tutors' Feedback Scores for Nov11

Accompanying comments:

Tutor 1: The coordinators were helpful and quick with their responses.

Tutor 2: They were efficient and professional

Tutor 3: You could have helped tutors who were abandoned by the students.

(We apologize to tutors who are unfairly dismissed from assignments on short-notice, especially when the parents have promised that the assignments would be long-term. Our coordinators normally clarify with parents that the assignments will last at least past 3 months, otherwise we will reduce the commission charge to our tutors.)

Tutor 4: Nice and efficient

Tutor 5: I hope Ace Tutors Home Tuition can quote the rate for every assignment by checking with the client’s budget. In this way, tutors can select those assignments which match their minimal rate. The coordinators of Ace Tutors Home Tuition are friendly and patient. Their service is excellent! Keep it up!

(For parents who only state that they would pay ‘market rate’, we leave it as such in the price field so that you may quote your honest rates and let parents have a fairer assessment of all candidates’ original unskewed rates.)

As of Jan 2012 or end of this month, we will have a new page which features parents/students’ positive comments about your teaching. It’s an exciting feature which promotes you to other parents in a whole new effective manner. Continue to teach with great passion and we hope that your effort goes rewarded =)

Why Students Are Hesitant To Ask Questions In Classroom Sessions?

High performance, quality and standards are the expectations of corporate world. On the other hand our kids also go through hard times to achieve these qualities during their school days. Due to increasing competition in the education zone, most parents now-a-days find it unacceptable, the way schools teach the kids in the good old ways. Schools impart learning to large group of kids from different caste and cultures where it becomes a bit difficult for few kids to express. Also from the fact of raising bullying in school and ragging, kids get disturbed and end up with less mark. We hear newspapers saying suicide cases just because they are not able to cope up with the pressure and got less marks.

Due to this, parents are helping kids by getting tuition classes arrangement for kids and cut the risk of all the ill effects. These private and classroom tuitions act as a cushion to the schools education.

Because children have different modes of coping in school, it is unavoidable for some of them to find it difficult to catch up with certain subjects. Not all students perform at the same level in school, and not all of them share the same views with respect to subject matter presented in class. Many students need extra help to overcome the difficulties of complex subjects. Mathematics, Chinese and English are most common subjects in which kids need tutors assistance. There are parents who prefer to engage Top Tutors dealing with more complex and difficult subjects. Tuition sessions are available in Group sessions at comparatively less cost than private tutors. It’s up to parent and child to decide and avail this.

Parents trust and pay tutors for their services and expects tutors to manipulate his teaching plan in accordance with the skill, interest, and needs of the student to generate benefits and enhance learning’s so that the areas where kids couldn’t concentrate in schools are considered here.

Students who genuinely want to learn get annoyed as more students in the class are interested in throwing paper balls, reading tabloid newspapers, discussing about parties and games etc. This leads to emotional breakdown which is very rarely observed by the classroom teachers in school.

Home tutors play very essential roles in the academic development of a child, and their effectiveness has been proven by so many. It is not a wonder why home tutoring programs are still put to use in many countries along with school teachings.

How to Become a Good Tutor?

As the importance of education is increasing drastically over years, many parents choose tutors to help their children in home work or projects. Parents hire tutors for difficult subjects such as Maths, English or for any particular test preparation. However, many of them don’t exactly know what are the main qualities of a good tutor.

Apart from the qualification and experience, there are many other factors that make a tutor- a good tutor. However, tutors often think that they have required degree and teaching experience and thus, they should come under the category of good qualified tutor, but there are many other things which are important equally.

Certainly, you should have the great knowledge and understanding of the subject. No teacher can teach a learner well if he himself don’t have any understanding of it. Don’t think that to become a good tutor, you have to memorize each and every thing of the subject. But make sure that you’re able to understand the material just after a short review before the session. For instance, a maths tutor with insufficient knowledge may know the formulas but a good tutor has the ability to derive it well. So, polish your knowledge to deliver scratch to end information in your lecture.

Experience also does matter. An experienced tutor can address the issue of the students more appropriately rather than the inexperienced one. If you have no experience of teaching and want to take it as a career, consider volunteering and tutoring friends before charging any fee for your services. Another important factor to consider is good communication skills. As you have to teach your students and elaborate the concepts, you should be able to explain the things properly. You can solve the problem of maths but making the student understand the solution is not an easy task.

On the top of it, a good tutor has the ability to judge the performance of the students. Many a times, student doesn’t understand the requirement of the subject and as a result, they receive poor grades.  A Good tutor can easily understand the gaps and can provide the reviews on those particular areas so that students can improve their performance successfully. A tutor should have empathetic nature. It’s not necessary that all students have good learning skills. Being a tutor, you should help them to overcome their learning disabilities.
