“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.” – Nelson Mandela Word has it that ‘those who do not speak the Chinese language are not prepared for the 21st century’. What are your thoughts on that?
Plenty of employers and companies around the world are trying to build relationships and develop key business associations with China, therefore, Mandarin Chinese has undeniably become a very valuable asset and a highly sought after skill in today’s world. China has the second largest economy in the world, surpassing Japan in 2011, with an annual average growth of around 10 percent a year, which is just behind the USA. What is there to say that they are not able to be the first?
Given its rapid economic growth and emergence as a major global powerhouse, the business opportunities and developments in China are more significant than ever. With a staggering population of 1.3 billion, the next two decades are likely to bring about a substantial growth in demand from China’s rapidly growing middle-class for luxury consumer goods and services as well as a huge increase in global activities by China’s major companies.
One of the greatest investment gurus of our era, Jim Rogers, has migrated to Singapore to give his two daughters an opportunity to learn good Mandarin Chinese so that they can seize the moment when it arrives.
